Camp in a Box Project Latvia
Goal
To be resource and support to Latvian churches as they use camping ministry to show Jesus’ love and share his message of hope and life with their communities. The focus will be on children, youth and families.
Why camp?
In Latvia many children hear about Jesus and spend time in a loving supportive environment for the first time in camp. Probably someone you know has had a life changing experience in this kind of setting. We believe that churches should be at the center of this ministry because this is where campers can continue to learn and mature in the Lord.
Project Overview
- Develop a totally portable, high quality tent camp, for up to 75 people, to serve the churches in Latvia who see camping as an important part of their desire for evangelism, discipleship and building relationship.
- Be a resource to church leaders who are using or planning to use camp ministry in this way.
Why a mobile tent camp?
- To meet the immediate needs of local churches.
- An effective solution for the current lack of practical, affordable places to operate camps in Latvia.
- To build a solid foundation for future camping ministry while seeing immediate results.
- No burden of construction and management of a large year-round facility.
- 50 campers are manageable by local leaders and staff teams. It is often a challenge to find enough helpers to run larger camps effectively.
- This project does not require long-term missionary involvement to be successful.
- A powerful tool to enhance the impact of smaller, growing churches across the country and to assist nationals in starting churches in new areas.
Starting churches?
- Potential to run camps for children, youth and families in a new area and encourage those interested to meet in home bible study care groups.
- This package also could be used for special meetings, festivals, or seminars in areas where churches don’t currently exist.
